# Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Thought Treat app

("Thought Treat", "the app", "we", "us"). By downloading, installing, or using

the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the

app.

## The short version

 

- Thought Treat is a daily-quote and reflection app for your own personal use.

- You may use it on the Apple devices you own or control.

- **Thought Treat+** is an optional paid subscription that unlocks premium

features. It renews automatically until you cancel it.

- The quotes and content are for inspiration and reflection only, not

professional advice.

- The app is provided "as is", and your statutory consumer rights are not

affected.

## Who may use the app

 

You may use Thought Treat if you are old enough to form a binding contract in

your country and are not barred from doing so under any applicable law. If you

are a minor, you may only use the app with the consent and supervision of a

parent or legal guardian. The app is not directed to children under 13 (or the

equivalent minimum age in your country).

 

## Your licence to use the app

 

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive,

non-transferable, revocable licence to download and use Thought Treat for your

own personal, non-commercial use on Apple devices that you own or control, as

permitted by the App Store Terms of Service.

 

You agree not to:

 

- copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the app;

- reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code, except to the extent

this restriction is prohibited by applicable law;

- use the app in any unlawful way or for any unlawful purpose;

- interfere with or disrupt the app or the servers and networks that deliver

its content.

 

## Your content

 

Thought Treat lets you write reflections and journal entries. This content is

stored locally on your device and is not uploaded to or accessible by us, as

described in our Privacy Policy. You are responsible for your own content and

for keeping your own backups. Because we cannot access this content, we cannot

recover it if you delete it or uninstall the app.

 

## Subscriptions and billing

 

Thought Treat offers an optional auto-renewing subscription, **Thought Treat+**,

which unlocks premium features. The following terms apply to subscriptions:

 

- **Purchase and billing** are handled by **Apple** through your App Store

account. Prices are shown in the app before you buy and may vary by region.

- **Auto-renewal.** Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each

billing period unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end

of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours

before the end of the current period.

- **Managing and cancelling.** You can manage or cancel your subscription at any

time in your App Store account settings. Cancelling stops future renewals; it

does not retroactively refund the current period.

- **Free trials or introductory offers**, where offered, are applied as

described at the time of purchase. Any unused portion of a free trial is

forfeited when you buy a subscription.

- **Refunds** are handled by Apple in accordance with the App Store Terms of

Service and applicable law. We generally cannot issue refunds directly.

 

## Content and no professional advice

 

The quotes, prompts, and other content in Thought Treat are provided for

inspiration, education, and personal reflection only. They are **not** medical,

psychological, legal, financial, or other professional advice, and they are not

a substitute for care from a qualified professional. If you are experiencing a

crisis or need help, please contact a qualified professional or your local

emergency services.

 

## Intellectual property

 

The app, its design, logos, and the compilation of its content are owned by us

or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. Individual

quotes may be attributed to their original authors and remain the property of

their respective rights holders. Nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership

rights to you other than the limited licence described above.

 

## Third-party services

 

Thought Treat relies on third-party services to function, including **Apple**

(App Store and device platform), **RevenueCat** (subscription management), and

**Supabase** (content backend). Your use of those services may also be governed

by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party

services that we do not control.

 

## Availability and changes to the app

 

We work to keep the app available and functioning, but we do not guarantee that

it will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free. We may update, change,

or discontinue features of the app at any time. Some features require an internet

connection to download content; if content cannot be reached, the app falls back

to a bundled quote pack so it keeps working offline.

 

## Disclaimer of warranties

 

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the app is provided **"as is"** and

**"as available"**, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied,

including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular

purpose, and non-infringement. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of

certain warranties, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.

 

## Limitation of liability

 

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect,

incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data,

arising out of or related to your use of the app. Nothing in these Terms limits

liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, and your statutory

consumer rights are not affected.

 

## Termination

 

You may stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or end

your access to the app if you breach these Terms or use the app unlawfully. The

sections that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual

property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will continue to apply.

 

## Changes to these Terms

 

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we

will update the "Effective date" above and post the revised Terms at the same

address. Your continued use of the app after an update means you accept the

revised Terms.

 

## Governing law

 

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in your country of residence

where required by mandatory consumer law, and otherwise by the laws of the

Netherlands, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Mandatory consumer

protections available to you in your place of residence are not affected.
